Takeover Thursday: Andrea from Finger Painting Fingers

Today is our last post for Takeover Thursday. I would like to thank Andrea for participating in this segment of my blog. Please show her some love when you have a chance.

Hello, lovely ladies!  I am super excited to be today’s “Takeover Thursday” guest post contributor here at Tall Girl in Heels!

If you haven’t visited my blog, Finger Painting Fingers, you may not know about my love of indie polishes.  I love the unique variety of indie polishes and I admire the ladies who are the creative forces behind each brand I have come to love.

When I first heard about KBShimmer, I was like many other lacquer loving girls needing my next glitter fix.  I was drawn to her gorgeous collection of nail polish.  I didn’t realize that Christy started her business with hand crafted bath and body products.  Christy is a crafty girl after my own heart and after perusing her Etsy shop, I can tell you I am excited to try more than just her polish!  Those soaps, bath bombs and sugar scrubs and lip balms look amazing!

When you visit KBShimmer’s website you will read this about the brand:

KBShimmer is a woman owned small business run by soap maker, Christy Rose.  All her life Christy has had a love of crafting and creating.  Christy poured her first batch of cold process soap while still in high school, and after taking a break for school and family, has been creating handmade bath and body for sale since 2008.  Each product in the KBShimmer line is made by hand, and slight variances may occur as we are not a machine stamping out identical products, that is the beauty of handmade.”

I was lucky enough to get my first KBShimmer polish in a swap.  I had wanted it for a long time.  I love any polish that reminds me of water.  I guess when you live in the desert Southwest, water becomes something of a novelty.  Shipwreck, well, the name alone should tell you why I wanted it!

Shipwreck is a teal blue jelly base with a mix of different sizes of hex and micro glitters in purple, aqua, green, blue and holographic gold.  It really does look like cold ocean water in the bottle. I layered Shipwreck over Maybelline ColorShow Blue Blowout, which is an icy blue metallic.

Take a look!

Ahhhh!! Look at all of those amazing glitters, both on my nails and in the bottle!  Don’t you just love how Blue Blowout shines through Shipwreck to add some extra metallic shimmer?

I used two coats of Shipwreck over two coats of Blue Blowout.  I finished with a coat of Poshe’ Super Fast Dry top coat.  The formula of Shipwreck was a little on the thick side.  I had some trouble getting it smooth at first, but I ended up mixing it a little more and that seemed to help the consistency.  I was happy with the distribution of the glitters despite the thickness of the base.
